Saif Ali Khan was protecting his family, wife Kareena Kapoor Khan and sons Jeh and Taimur who were present at home when the burglar intruded. As reported by The Indian Express, in the hassle with the burglar to save his family, the actor sustained six injuries after getting attacked with a knife. He is currently being treated at the Lilavati Hospital. The incident took place around midnight on January 16.
Kareena's team released a statement saying, "There was an attempted burglary in Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s residence last night. Saif had an injury on his arm for which he is in the hospital, undergoing a procedure. The rest of the family is doing fine. We request media and fans to be patient and not speculate any further as the Police is already doing their due investigations. Thank you all for your concern. Team Kareena Kapoor Khan.”
According to a report in The Hindustan Times, Saif’s son from his earlier marriage with Amrita Singh, Ibrahim Khan rushed to help his father after he got to know of the incident. He helped to take Saif to the hospital.
It is also being reported that one of the house-helps allowed the burglar to enter the house. The accused was not caught in the CCTV footage in the lift or the main lobby of the building.
The intruder entered the maid quarters from the back of the house, where he is reported to have had an argument with the staff. He was overpowered and locked in the children’s room but managed to escape. The police are currently investigating the matter.
The actor sustained a total of six wounds, out of which two are deep cuts, with one wound near his neck. He underwent neurosurgery and will be proceeding with plastic surgery to treat the injuries.
